On the 26th of December we finished our Christmas adventures by having a "Smith" family dinner. First off, none of us are named "Smith" anymore (except my uncle Bobby), but we all carry a part of my Grandparents Ruth and Bill Smith with us. My cousin Kirk and his family graciously host the event each year, and provide delicious food for us to eat. They have a bounce house and pizza for the little kids, and tamales and treats for the adults. It is great to see everyone and it is a fabulous way to keep in touch with family we see too infrequently!
On Christmas morning Zoey and Leo woke up to Santa leaving their "big" toys in front of the tree. Zoey has been obsessed with a doll house for MONTHS and Leo just loves most of anything. They both have been "good" this year, so their wishes came true. We were overjoyed to see them enjoy their gifts and their stockings. Christmas really is more fun with kids! After we had our own event at home, we packed up and went to the Rosa house to have brunch and celebrate Christmas with them. When we arrived, there was a desperate case of Christmas fever and so we opened up gifts as soon as we got there! We didn't even make it to the couches, and opened the gifts on the floor! Needless to say, the kids LOVED all their gifts and we had such fun watching them open them. The food was delicious and being with family is a great way to celebrate our favorite holiday!
For years, the Skiles family have celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. This year was no exception. We all went over to my parents house and had our traditional lasagna and cupcakes (well the cupcakes are new to Christmas, but they are a new favorite of ours throughout the year - thanks to Theresa!). We took our time and opened a TON of gifts. The kids came away with so many of their favorite things...a popcorn popper, a ballerina doll and clothes...just to name a few! We are blessed to have such a great time with our family and the kids love spending time with their cousins!
On December 19, we went over to Larry and Tina's house to celebrate Christmas with them. It was a mellow event, however the kids kept us busy with their antics! The girls played dress up and Leo followed them around. They destroyed everything they could and had fun opening up a few gifts. We had fun being together and watching our kids become such good friends!
